Dúo del Sol

We've been composing and working hard for a few months now. At last we are able to share with you the music that we've created and put our hearts into. The two songs that we published on YouTube are "Mirá" and "A Manu," this last one dedicated to Manu Chao. Please check them out and follow us on Facebook. I hope you like our project!

The piece: Bohuslav Martinu's Sinfonia Concertante for soloists and orchestra. The other soloists were Lucrecia Basaldúa (cello), Elvira Casanova (oboe) and Esteban Falconi (bassoon), conducted by Tiago Flores from Brazil.

Jail Break

I recently spent two weeks in Charleston playing with Entropy Ensemble. We broke new barriers by headlining and putting together an all-encompassing arts festival, "Jail Break," at the Old City Jail. Thanks to the American College of Building Arts, we were able to turn the historic space into a gallery featuring local art and the outside into a rock concert, accompanied by food trucks, Social Wine Bar's drinks, and local jewelry. Two great local bands opened the show: Ryan Bonner and the Dearly Beloved, and Wadata. Entropy finished the night in front of approx. 550 people that enjoyed the beautiful Lowcountry evening. Teacher in LA

These first few months of teaching students from all parts of Los Angeles and Santa Monica has been the greatest pleasure. I have taught so far at Sol-La Music Academy, New Roads School and the Verdugo Young Musicians' Association. Beginning in January, I will also be a part of the team at the Longfellow orchestral program for children, inspired by 'El Sistema.'

Between the Lines

Entropy Ensemble produced a multi-media collaboration that involved music, dance, animation and lighting at the Sottile Theatre in Charleston, SC in November. As a way to celebrate the College of Charleston School of the Arts' 20th Anniversary, Entropy Ensemble and Annex Dance Company worked with musicians, dancers and animators from the College. Unbelievable pianist and NPR personality Christopher O'Riley performed as a guest. The music mainly showcase Entropy Ensemble's Radiohead Project, but it also included Bach's Ciaccona for solo violin in a choreography by CofC student Allyn Wong. Revenues partially benefited Carolina Studios and the CofC School of the Arts. For more info, visit: School of the Arts' blog, Entropy Ensemble, and Charleston Today.
